Description
Beautiful genuine vintage (not a modern reproduction) Sleepy Eyes American Indian girl doll, 7 inches tall, made of molded hard plastic body and head. My mother played with this doll as a child, and she was born in 1924, so I am guessing the doll is from the late 1920s or early 1930s. The eyes with their tiny lashes are “Sleepy Eyes”, meaning that they close when the doll is laid down and open when she is upright. The doll is dressed in its original costume with hand-sewn beads on the front of the dress and headband and moccasins. Tiny plastic flowers with a center bead decorate her tunic and the hem and sleeves of her
sewn
suede dress are fringed. A lot of detail for a doll. She wears what appears to be a felt belt that has a center green band which is frayed. Tiny leather moccasins with beads adorn her feet. She has two long braided pigtails and a perfect face and body – no chipping or fading of the plastic. All of her delicate fingers are present and intact. She has the remains of a very old price tag on the bottom of one moccasin. She does have one flaw (in addition to a little dust), her head lists to the right – the internal mechanism that controls the moveable head has loosened.
This lovely old piece will be mailed First Class with no charge for handling or packing. Please check my seller’s feedback and bid with confidence.
